28th April 2012

It rained a lot and visitor numbers were about a fifth of what may have been expected on a sunny spring day.  Nevertheless, I got to sign some books and enjoyed meeting some nice people in the process.  Besides, with the Hanningfield Reserve being the place it is, I was still able to enjoying something of its varied wildlife, despite the weather and my not leaving the vistor centre throughout the day, including my first Common Tern and Swift of the spring, and a particularly entertaining Bank Vole dashing in and out of view as it scavenged the crumbs falling from the busy bird-feeders.
